PSV has definitely seized second place in the Eredivisie. Against FC Utrecht they finished 1-1, which means the club ends the season on 72 points.

Great chance Zahavi
In Stadion Galgenwaard, PSV could play with a three-point lead and a much better goal difference than AZ in mind. Still, head coach Roger Schmidt said beforehand that his team had to be attentive. After 24 minutes, PSV, playing without Denzel Dumfries and Donyell Malen, could have made it easy for themselves in that regard. After an acceleration by Cody Gakpo, Eran Zahavi had the ball at his feet, but he hit the FC Utrecht goalkeeper.

Own goal Obispo
Although the team had more ball possession from that moment on, it could not penetrate the FC Utrecht defense. The home club did not really push either, but did take the lead just ten minutes before halftime. Van de Streek was free when a free kick was turned in and nodded the 1-0 on the board via starting debutant Armando Obispo. At Alkmaar, AZ took the lead at about the same time against Heracles Almelo.

Van Ginkel goal
After halftime, PSV therefore "defended" an eight-goal lead over the Alkmaarers. However, it did not get into trouble for a moment. Although AZ soon ran out, captain Marco van Ginkel put an end to any uncertainty very quickly. Five minutes after halftime, the midfielder signed for the equalizer. PSV was close to taking the lead several more times, but it did not come that far.

Debut Shurandy Sambo
In time, both teams reconciled to a draw and at PSV, Shurandy Sambo still made his Eredivisie debut. He and the rest of the squad will know on May 26 when PSV can begin the route to the main tournament of the UEFA Champions League. If Manchester United wins the UEFA Europa League, it will enter one preliminary round later and will be in early August. Otherwise, at the end of July.
