PSV will play its second away game of 2022 against Vitesse next Saturday. Head coach Roger Schmidt's team still has a score to settle with the Arnheimers. Last season they suffered a painful defeat at the GelreDome: 2-1.
Mutual Confrontations
The omens are not entirely unfavorable for PSV. The club lost only one of its last 16 Eredivisie matches against Vitesse. PSV was also unbeaten 23 times in Arnhem, until the yellow-blacks stopped them last year. In the last 23 mutual matches, PSV scored every time.
Earlier this season
The home game was won 2-0 by PSV earlier this season. In an empty Philips Stadium, Ibrahim Sangaré and Armindo Bruma made sure the three points stayed in Eindhoven with wonderful goals.
Series
PSV hopes to avoid losing three games in a row in the Eredivisie for the first time in eight years. A statistic to be happier about is the fact that PSV could manage to record four consecutive away wins in the same season for the first time since the start of the 2018-2019 season.
Past
Marco van Ginkel and Armando Obispo have a past with Vitesse. Van Ginkel went through the Arnheimers' youth training and made his debut in 2010. Obispo was based in Gelderland on a rental basis during the 2019-2020 season. The young defender will be on alert this Saturday, so he must be careful not to unexpectedly incur his fifth yellow card of the season.
