"It doesn't matter which puppets we stand with. It's about the principles," Mark van Bommel said during the weekly press talk. "We don't do anything different only we put different players. Within that we can vary."
'Nice to meet him'
Mark van Bommel is looking forward to meeting Jaap Stam again during PSV -PEC Zwolle. "I'm happy to see Jaap again. It's always nice. We still have regular contact. I also followed him in England. Just as I have with Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Kevin Hofland." The PSV coach sees that PEC Zwolle is in form. "They are well organized and come out quite quickly. But of course we will go for the win." It does not matter to Van Bommel that the Zwolle players are in good form. "You have to keep looking at yourself and win that match. Then it doesn't matter if the opponent has won by way of eight games."
Ajax
"We know what the problem was. We gave away a penalty and an own goal. For the rest, they didn't create anything. I didn't think we played badly. Of course you could have been eight points off. But we have been on top from the beginning of the league. A few games ago the difference was also two points and Ajax did not go over us either," Van Bommel said.
The principles
During the press conference, it becomes clear that Van Bommel considers agreements very important. "The most important thing is that the players know what to do in what situation. Those are principles. Then it doesn't matter who is playing because everyone knows the principles. Does that not happen? Then we have to fall back on our basic principles. We have not been played away yet this season." That several talents are breaking through, van Bommel calls only a plus. "The more choice we have, the better it is. A number of guys they develop in such a way that the whole level goes up. That you can choose from that is nice."
