PSV plays the cup match against SC Genemuiden on Tuesday evening at 18.30 hrs. At sports complex De Herdgang, trainer Phillip Cocu briefly looked ahead to the game Monday afternoon in front of several journalists. "There will not be a completely different team," he said.
Changes
Phillip Cocu acknowledged after training that he will not have his team play in the same formation as last Saturday against FC Twente. Among others, Andrés Guardado will not be there on Tuesday. "Guardado, after his rehabilitation, has had busy weeks. He will get rest, so he can recover from all the efforts," Cocu said. The coach is not ruling out other changes either, although Cocu stressed that he is not totally turning his squad upside down. "It could be that we change a few positions tomorrow, but there will not be a completely different team. Pasveer will play goalkeeper, that's for sure."
Cocu happy with full stadium: 'Stimulates enormously '
PSV will welcome at least 30,000 spectators tomorrow. "That's wonderful," Cocu responded happily to that number. "It's wonderful for the players and it stimulates enormously." That support is also nice for another reason, because Genemuiden already has quite a few cup stunts to their name. Just this year, Genemuiden eliminated ADO Den Haag, while Cocu also remembered that the team from Overijssel gave FC Twente a hard time in 2011. Back then, the Tukkers won 4-3 with great difficulty. "For Genemuiden, this is the match of the year. We have to be sharp. They eliminated ADO, that says something. Of course we have to make it to the next round. That's obvious. But We have to approach it professionally."
Lestienne
Finally, the coach also talked about the situation of Maxime Lestienne. The outfielder has been back in training since yesterday, but is not yet in the matchday squad. "Lestienne is still missing. He is doing some physical tests and working through an individual program. That way we will learn how he is doing after three weeks of absence."
