Head coach Phillip Cocu was visibly satisfied after the record victory over SC Cambuur. "This is a beautiful victory for us," the coach spoke at the press conference. PSV won 0-6 from the team from Leeuwarden for the first time in history.
Reaction Phillip Cocu
"This is a nice win for us," Cocu began his match analysis. "The penalty kick with the red card is of course decisive, but I'm happy that we decided the game pretty quickly after that." Still, Cocu had some critical words for his team, especially about the phase before halftime. "We were a little too forced before halftime looking for goals and own success. After halftime we did much better. We did it smart, we played the game out fine and didn't have to force anything ahead of Tuesday," Cocu alluded to PSV - Manchester United.
Reaction Henk de Jong
SC Cambuur coach Henk de Jong showed realism after the defeat. "We have to come from very good stock if we want to win against PSV. With eleven we would already have had a very difficult time, with ten it's over. We are lucky it stayed 0-6," he said. He did raise doubts about how the win came about. "I didn't think the penalty kick was justified, but I don't want to say too much about the referee. I congratulate PSV and wish them a lot of success on Tuesday. I told my players at halftime not to kick madly, because I really hope for a good result," he concluded.
