Head coach Phillip Cocu spoke of a disappointing evening in Tilburg after the draw against Willem II. "We eventually forced a draw, but of course I am dissatisfied with this result," Cocu said at the press conference.
Cocu: 'Have to be constantly sharp '
Cocu saw his team start well with two chances and a goal in the 12th minute. "We grabbed the initiative, took the lead and were in good control until the last five to 10 minutes before halftime. That was good," said Cocu, who saw PSV drop too far back after that. "At that point it became a bit less, a bit more sloppy. At halftime we decided to change gear in the second half, increase the tempo to prevent us from slipping. That eventually happened after the equalizer." Through De Jong, PSV forced another goal, but his team did not get any further. "You have to be sharp all the time, because one moment can turn a game around. That was evident today," Cocu said, complimenting Willem II on their play and talking about sharpness.
Streppel: 'Deserved point '
Willem II coach Jurgen Streppel largely agreed with Cocu. He saw PSV start well and his team poorly which thus resulted in an early lead. "We could hardly get a grip on PSV. I agree with Phillip on that. We tried to put pressure after the 1-0, but PSV was a size too big at that point," Streppel said. In the second half, his team fared much better. "After half-time we played a bit more aggressively. That resulted in the 1-1 and the 2-1. Then PSV started to play a bit more opportunistically, resulting in the 2-2. A draw was deserved in my eyes, although both PSV goals were offside."
