A new player, the lost game in the UEFA Champions League and the upcoming encounter with Fortuna Sittard. There was plenty to discuss at Friday afternoon's press conference.
What reaction did you see from your players after the game against Juventus?
"We looked back at the game with the staff immediately after the game and it didn't get any better. I saw many more things that were not good. I discussed that with the players afterwards."
What position do you like to see Ivan Perišić in?
"Basically we want to use him for on the flanks. Those are a little thin right now with Hirving injured. But I've also seen how he was used as a wing defender at Inter, so that could also be possible. We will decide tomorrow if he is in the selection. He is already training and in that he makes a fit and sharp impression. He is a true professional, which especially our young players can take an example from and draw on."
Do you see and feel the hunger with Ivan Perišić as well?
"Yes, from the first moment. After we came back from Turin he trained with the substitutes. Those guys I think looked their eyes out. He is an asset and is going to help us get prizes."
How do you handle Fortuna Sittard?
"It's up to ourselves how we handle switching between Eredivisie and UEFA Champions League games. Last year we were very good at this. I think we have to win and show that we are the better team against Fortuna Sittard."
How is Karsdorp doing?
"He has been training fully, so he is getting closer. We haven't talked about him with the medical staff yet. But the moment he joins the selection is getting closer. The same goes for Armando Obispo."
