After a 3-0 defeat at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, PSV must work to stay active at the European level this season. Head coach Ruud van Nistelrooij knows it won't be easy, but says his selection will do everything it can.
Taking initiative
"Fortunately, yes," says the Van Nistelrooij when asked if he believes in miracles. "We have to be good and focused. Look at the Netherlands' quarterfinal at the last World Cup. We want to match the high level we showed during the first half in Sevilla. Take the initiative from the beginning and get close to the goal."
All or nothing
Journalists are curious to know how Van Nistelrooij will get his team started Thursday night. The former top striker gives away only a hint. "We have to start in such a way that we can play the game out as well. In the last phase we can take more risk to score a goal. We have trained on that as well."
Going for a miracle
The Head Coach says it could be a nasty match. "If Sevilla FC pulls back in the early stages, we have to anticipate that and play forward. Tomorrow we have to show the best version of ourselves." Still, his team cannot do it alone. "We need the crowd. With the support of our supporters, we will go for a miracle. It's all or nothing."
