In the final round of play of the 2022-2023 season, PSV managed to win away from AZ. After the game in Alkmaar, interim head coach Fred Rutten and captain Luuk de Jong will answer questions about the turbulent week and gold medalist Xavi Simons.

"I've been through a lot, but this was very difficult," Fred says when asked about Ruud van Nistelrooij stepping down. "I think it's clever that, in such a short time, we still got all heads in the same direction and achieved results. We do that as a team. From the equipment man to the captain to the Head Coach."

Luuk concurs with the interim head coach's words. "I think it's very good that everyone turned the knob, no matter how difficult. We did everything we could to close the season well or." The captain was then clear when asked about his future. "My goal is to stay at PSV. As first striker of course."

Then attention turns to Xavi Simons. The 20-year-old midfielder crowned himself matchwinner and partial top scorer of the Eredivisie with two goals. Luuk praises his teammate. "I can't remember anyone doing so well in his first year," he said.

Fred concurs with the captain. "Last year, Xavi showed that he can tap the very highest level. He never sinks through the bottom line. That's very clever, especially at that age. That alone indicates that he can eventually play at the European top."
