Peter Bosz and Jerdy Schouten were very self-critical after the 3-1 defeat in Nijmegen. The Head Coach indicated that he did not recognize his team today and the midfielder, in turn, bitterly regretted the unbeaten run that has come to an end.
"It went wrong from the first to the last minute," Bosz began. "I didn't recognize my team. We came out ahead against the odds. We didn't win the duels and sometimes we didn't even go into them. In the second half it went from bad to worse. NEC deservedly won. They were simply the better team today."
The coach disputes that the defeat is due to the international break. "Also the guys who stayed here did not give home. I did not live under the illusion that we would never lose. That it only happens after 27 rounds of play I see as a big compliment. After the defeats against Feyenoord and Arsenal FC, we responded well. I want to see that again now."
When Bosz was asked if he was worried, he responded firmly, "We are, if Feyenoord win, still seven points ahead."
Silent in the dressing room
Jerdy Schouten completely agrees with the Head Coach and thinks PSV should have decided it before halftime. "We had enough chances for the 2-0. That's where we let it slip. It would have been so nice to become undefeated champions. We were extremely disappointed. Afterwards it was dead quiet in the dressing room."
