After the first league game of the 2023-2024 season yielded three points right away, Peter Bosz and Ismael Saibari addressed the assembled newsroom. The Head Coach there was very appreciative of two substitutes.

"I think the start of the league is very important, I told them that beforehand. Either you are right behind or you are competing. Fortunately, we are competing, but not thanks to the first half," Bosz said, explaining where things went wrong. "The tempo was too slow and we were not moving enough. As a result, we struggled on the ball."

Good substitutes

The second half was better, according to the coach: "Partly thanks to the five substitutes, they really showed how much they wanted to. This is how you have to come into the field." The 17-year-old Tygo Land came in lines just before time for his Eredivisie debut. "A footballer with a lot of potential. Tygo is a unique player, very steady on the ball and he plays with flair. He still needs to become a little more physical, but that will come naturally. If Tygo keeps working, he has a very bright future," Bosz said.

Liaison player Saibari

Ismael also received compliments from the Head Coach, who was very creditable with an assist. Bosz says he sees the Moroccan youth international as a liaison player. Ismael concurs: "If he needs someone on the flanks, I'll be there, but I focus on midfield. There I can fill multiple positions with my attacking qualities."
