Ryan Flamingo talks about his move to PSV, the UEFA Champions League and, of course, the 3-0 win over Go Ahead Eagles.
It wasn't a very difficult match, was it?
"It may have seemed that way, but you have to play powerfully to win. Not losing silly balls, for example. We did that well today. Compliments also to Malik Tillman, because he played very well."
The standard at PSV is to win, does that feel different from your previous employer?
"Yes, here you have to win and at FC Utrecht you want to win, but it's a different attitude. You notice that there is always criticism here after a win too, but I know for myself when I have played well and when not. That's the only thing that counts."
What is the biggest adjustment?
"We play very high and we have a lot of space in the back. At FC Utrecht we defend lower. Here, every little mistake can be a goal, because sixty meters is no longer there. That's the main difference for me as a defender."
You are entering the UEFA Champions League, how does that feel?
"It is a dream to play in the Champions League. It's a great draw with great teams. So I'm looking forward to it. If we stay humble and go for it a lot is possible."
PSV kept the zero for the first time today, how important is that?
"We work hard every week, but I do think we gave away too many chances at the end and at the beginning. We need to improve on that, but we are working hard on it."
You can also play in midfield, but where do you prefer to play?
"It doesn't matter very much to me, but I have a slight preference for central defense. I got more minutes there, you have the game in front of you and that suits me."
