Johan Bakayoko and Jerdy Schouten are just not fit enough for the away game against Almere City FC. That is what head coach Peter Bosz told the press conference. Then the coach discusses all the transfer issues.
Do you have a fit selection?
"Johan Bakayoko and Jerdy Schouten have complaints from the previous game. We don't want to take a risk with them so they won't be there tomorrow. They are just not fit enough. They will rejoin next week. Fredrik Oppegård and Richard Ledezma will be there, they had no injuries. That was a case of clean up and move on."
Will you be able to make up for Jerdy's absence?
"I played quite often with Jerdy at center back, then I have to replace him in midfield as well. I'd rather have him there, but it's not an insurmountable problem."
What are the transfer woes doing to the team?
"Until the transfer window closes, speculations will remain. That's why we have to do everything we can to keep the focus on Almere City FC. Olivier Boscagli and Walter Benítez want to make a move, but if the club says no, they have to move on. They do, so they will just play tomorrow."
Are you disappointed that not everyone wants to stay after a great season?
"I'm not disappointed. You hope you can build out, but when you perform well as a Dutch club, there is a knock on the door. That's part of it. There are only a few teams in the world that have that completely in their own hands. If they don't want to sell, they don't sell. The rest don't have that luxury position."
What do you think about Sepp van den Berg not coming to PSV?
"That's a shame, because I would have liked to have had him there. I spoke with him myself and he was also looking forward to coming to PSV. But you need three parties to come to a deal. With Liverpool FC we didn't succeed. If you then see what kind of an amount he went for it is understandable."
Meanwhile, how do you view the development of Matteo Dams?
"He suddenly has to stand there, but is filling in very well. That's tremendously clever of him."
