In the GelreDome, PSV manages to put Vitesse aside in convincing fashion. The team scores five times and takes the three points to Eindhoven. After the big win over NAC Breda, PSV manages to convince again.
Dream start
After a strong win in the KNVB Cup tournament, PSV also wanted a good result in the Eredivisie. Taking three points in Arnhem was the goal, and a move towards that was made quickly. Within five minutes it was already on target. Noni Madueke sliced through the Arnhem defense like a hot knife through butter. The Englishman delivered a tight cross to Götze, he pounced on the goalkeeper but the rebound was prey to Zahavi: 0-1. Even before Vitesse could recover, PSV made another fine attempt. After a combination with Zahavi and Madueke, Phillipp Mwene was able to hit a tight cross to Götze, who narrowly missed the goalkeeper from close range. PSV did not allow Vitesse any space to catch their breath.
PSV train
Cody Gakpo also wanted to make a contribution. With a shot from distance he tested goalkeeper Houwen's reflexes. Mauro JR wanted to use the rebound to deliver a cross, but was offside. The Brazilian was still given his chance and took it. He shot from an awkward angle and managed to surprise Houwen for the 0-2. The PSV train thundered on and again there was a starring role for Madueke. The Englishman had no trouble with Vitesse's last line and danced around his opponents as it were. After another clever move, he delivered a tight cross to Gakpo, who managed to finish off ice-cold. After half an hour it was already 0-3, which was also the score at halftime.
On roses
Vitesse pulled out all the stops to ensure a stunt, but PSV offered little space. Here and there the home side tried, but to no avail. At the first changeover, Carlos Vinícius and Ritsu Doan came on to the pitch. The former needed only three minutes to score. Mwene delivered a gem of a cross into Vitesse's sixteen-meter area. Ibrahim Sangaré caught it masterfully and laid the ball off to Vinícius, who finished off the attack. An already comfortable lead became even wider.
Lord and master
Doan was also emphatic. After a good combination with substitute Joey Veerman, he was able to deliver a good cross, but Vitesse could narrowly block the effort. The Japanese player's hard work was rewarded. In the closing stages he made an effort from distance and managed to surprise Houwen. His shot went into the net and the 0-5 appeared on the scoreboard. With that, it was done. PSV was lord and master in Arnhem and the numbers showed it. Five goals and three points.
