PSV's women's team traveled to Enschede for the second match in the playoffs to take on FC Twente. After the strong start against Ajax, Rick de Rooij's team wanted to get a good result against the Rotterdammers as well.
Both PSV and FC Twente could not really create any well played chances in the beginning of the match. The only really dangerous moment came from Esmee Brugts. The young talent tried from long range, but saw her valiant effort turned away. Although there were not many chances, a goal was scored. Somewhat fortunately, the ball fell in the penalty area at the feet of Pattiwael, who, just like last week against Ajax, put PSV Women ahead by shooting in a controlled manner. A lead that was nullified barely five minutes later by Renate Jansen. The FC Twente captain saw her corner kick disappear directly into the goal.
Unlucky in finishing
With the score tied, both teams started the second half with more chances on both sides. Three PSV goal attempts, headers by Nouwen and Brugts and a corner kick by Van Dooren, were cleared off the line. Unfortunate and sour. Because fifteen minutes before time FC Twente took advantage of PSV's poor defensive play, 2-1. In the closing stages De Rooij tried to force an equalizer with some substitutions, but in the end he did not succeed.
Thus, for now, PSV must leave the lead in the Eredivisie Women to FC Twente. But there are still four duels to play, starting next week in The Hague.
