Denzel Dumfries walked a grand lap of honor through the Philips Stadium after the 1-0 victory over FC Groningen. The captain enjoyed the first game with supporters since the home game against FC Emmen. 'This is what you do it for.

Supporters back
"Unbelievable, unbelievable. We missed the people," Dumfries tellingly began his analysis of the victory over FC Groningen. "I hope everyone who was at home today will soon have the chance to still come," he dwelt on the feeling supporters evoke in a stadium.

One time 'cheering on '
Then it was time for game analysis. No goals were scored before halftime, but in the second half, PSV was successful four times. Only once did it come 'through cheering'. "Unprecedented yes," said Dumfries, who in the case of the disallowed 1-0 tapped the ball over the back line himself and therefore already suspected that Eran Zahavi's goal was going to be disallowed. "The ball off my foot was indeed over the line. He had seen it correctly. Fortunately, we won and it was deserved." Mainly because of the good second half, Dumfries thought. "It took some getting used to in the first half. We did control, but had a bit too little depth in the game. After halftime it was much better."

Good energy
Joining those words was Cody Gakpo, standout on the PSV side without scoring. "I think we played really well at times. Especially in the second half," said Gakpo, who hit the crossbar once and saw one goal disallowed. "Before halftime there was good energy in the team, but we were more sloppy. In the second half, fortunately, we scored. We fail to deliver the final blow and score more. Unfortunately, unfortunately, but we do win fortunately."
