Head coach Phillip Cocu urges his players that lesser results should not take over their game. "What-if scenarios give negative energy. We should not be concerned with that at all. Those are just thoughts and thoughts you can influence yourself," the coach spoke during the press interview at De Herdgang.
'Tapping very high level'
Cocu did not want to waste too many words on the game with FC Rostov. "We concluded that elimination. The game was analyzed and I still stand behind the choices I made. If I no longer stand behind my own choices, maybe I should ask myself why I'm still doing this job. But so I certainly don't." Cocu would much rather talk about how to break the negative trend. The coach is the first to acknowledge that things need to get much better for PSV and, at the same time, is convinced that his team has it in them. "If everything works out and we start making steps then I'm sure this team will tap a very high level again."
Nothing to win, everything to lose
Striker Go Ahead Eagles seems like an ideal opponent to send his team in that direction. However, his team also has everything to lose. "That's clear, we have to make sure we take the initiative and make the game. Winning is the only thing that matters. I hope the supporters, as always, stay behind us. That can help the team enormously." At least against the team from Deventer, Cocu will have Jetro Willems at his disposal again. The winger trained fully with the group on Friday. Andrés Guardado and Jürgen Locadia are not yet available. Jorrit Hendrix will play Friday night with PSV.
