PSV has convincingly defeated FC Twente. At Philips Stadium, Ron Jans' team was no match for the strong play of Roger Schmidt's team: 3-0.

Initial phase
PSV, which started with Mohamed Ihattaren in place of Ryan Thomas, needed about ten minutes Saturday afternoon to get into its game. After that, the team took the upper hand and firmly pinned FC Twente in their own half. The visitors, who earlier had a chance to open the scoring through former PSV player Narsingh, came under a lot of pressure and led by Eran Zahavi, PSV took the lead.

Zahavi
The Israeli enabled (via goalkeeper Drommel's hand) Donyell Malen to score and not long after made the 2-0 himself. Zahavi was the terminus of a nice PSV attack that ended with PSV's striker via Malen and Dumfries. Then Ihattaren, who distinguished himself before the break with work and the occasional nice pass, went close to scoring the third goal. In his attempt, however, Drommel turned strongly.

Highlight Malen
Also in the first fifteen minutes after halftime, PSV imposed its will on the visitors in Enschede. PSV again pressed FC Twente far back in their own half and soon that led to the 3-0. With a clever move Malen created space for himself in the crowded sixteen, after which he outplayed his direct opponent and shot the ball hard and unstoppable behind Drommel.

No hat trick
With that, the match was decided. PSV still had some good chances to run away from FC Twente. Malen in particular went in search of his hat trick, but Drommel prevented the international from doing so.
