Donyell Malen paced Young PSV to a win over Almere City on Friday night. The young striker single-handedly turned a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 victory.
Opening goal Obispo
After more than a quarter of an hour without any noteworthy events, Young PSV took the lead at De Herdgang in the 18th minute. Armando Obispo curled the ball beautifully into the Almere goal from long range to give his team the lead. Where Young PSV failed to push on after that, Almere City failed to produce goal danger. Occasionally Albert Gudmundsson caused a stir in the stands with a technical highlight, but there were no big chances for Dennis Haar's team.
Double-stroke Malen
So both teams rested at 1-0 for Young PSV. It did not stay on the scoreboard for long. In the 50th minute Van de Water scored the equalizer early in the second half. Almere City struck again. This time Valpoort tapped in from close range: 1-2. Malen made it 2-2 twenty minutes before the end, skilfully rounding off a through pass. He repeated the trick in the 83rd minute to make it 3-2.
