With no fewer than twelve players from its own Academy in the selection and in the new home shirts, PSV will take on city rival FC Eindhoven. The youngest on the field is fifteen-year-old Fabian Merién. The right back on duty sees his team win in injury time.

In the early stages, the youthful PSV choked several times in the build-up, allowing the visitors to come out dangerously on several occasions. The back is quickly turned and chances follow for Hirving Lozano, Guus Til and Isaac Babadi, but it is Ricardo Pepi who, with a lot of help from Hirving, scores first. After that, PSV seems to be firmly in the saddle, but the second goal of the evening goes to FC Eindhoven. Just before halftime, Pepi gets another great chance to make his second, but it remains 1-1.

Joël Drommel still hit the ball with his fingertips, but ten minutes into the second half FC Eindhoven exploited a penalty kick. Thanks to Ricardo Pepi, the deficit was short-lived. The striker now scores his second of the night, which leaves the battle for the Lichtstad Cup wide open. After that, it looks like penalty kicks will have to decide a winner, until Pepi - who else - completes his hat trick. The penalty kick was earned by the only substitute of the evening: Jason van Duiven.
