With a goal and an assist, Sam Lammers excelled against ADO Den Haag on Saturday. A starring role after a very long time for the striker who missed virtually the entire first half of the season due to injury. 'For me personally, it's a great day.'
FC Basel
Lammers said so afterwards in the catacomb of the Cars Jeans Stadium. "It's nice to score again after such a long time," Lammers said of his exploited penalty. His last goal dated from this summer in the preliminary round of the UEFA Champions League against FC Basel. "For me personally, it's a great day. A penalty always has to go in and as a striker I was on the list. I've shot them in better before, but it's in and that counts. And the team is also starting to run better and better."
Bad start
"We actually started very badly," Lammers posted a critical note. "But at one point we had ADO constantly on their own half. Of course we could have rewarded ourselves better and earlier. I could have made a few more myself," the striker said.
Good match
Captain Denzel Dumfries was not only happy with the win, but also with PSV's play. "I think we played a good game," the captain told FOX Sports. "If you look at the chances we should have finished it much earlier, but I'm happy though." That it seemed to go so easily did not surprise Dumfries. "We have a lot of qualities. I've always said that. We were yearning for a win for a very long time. We pushed through that and have to keep doing that."
