Young PSV played an exciting match against Roda JC at PSV Campus De Herdgang. A goal by Cheick Touré made it a draw, but the match remained exciting until the last second.
Two goals in three minutes
Within two minutes, Young PSV was on point. Shurandy Sambo swung a good cross into the 16-meter area and Roda goalkeeper Hoekstra had to stretch his fingertips to prevent the ball from reaching Ismael Saibari. Saibari remained focused on the goal. He cleverly put himself in shooting position but again Hoekstra managed to prevent the goal. Despite the Eindhoven chances, the first goal was for the Limburgers. A foul about a meter outside the penalty area cost Young PSV dearly. From the free kick the ball was shot over the wall, unstoppable for Vincent Müller. However, the lead was short-lived. Jeremy Antonisse crossed the ball towards the Roda JC goal. The ball fell into the feet of Cheick Touré, who easily finished. After half an hour the lead was almost there. The Young PSV attack was sharp and dangerous in front of the Limburg goal. But there was no real shooting opportunity. Müller was still put to the test on a Roda JC double corner. By the fists of German goalkeeper the equal score remained on the board. With this score both teams went into the break.
Chance
The tandem of Touré and Saibari started the second half fanatically. Touré managed to reach Saibari with a cross, as he did several times in the first half. But Saibari's shot went over the goal. After an hour of playtime, it was Vertessen who posed the biggest danger. The Belgian cleverly managed to free himself from the Limburg defense but had to shoot under pressure. His shot went just wide of the goal. With fifteen minutes left on the clock, Roda JC seemed to want to decide the game but Mees Kreekels rushed in front of the Limburg shot. Once again Vertessen's speed proved to be a dangerous weapon for Young PSV, but he was run off the ball just in front of the goal. In injury time it almost seemed to be decided in Roda JC's favor, but an impressive reflex by Müller kept a hard shot by Erik Falkenburg out of the goal. At the very last moment Vertessen made it exciting. From a counter, he just failed to score from an awkward angle. That turned out to be the last chance of the match. Young PSV had a chance, but had to settle for a draw.
