Young PSV won 2-0 against Jong FC Utrecht on Monday night. At De Herdgang, Lammers and Gudmundsson scored for Haar's team. A second goal by the Icelander was disallowed due to offside.
Beautiful goal by Gudmundsson
In the pouring rain at De Herdgang, Haar's team created the first danger in the game between the two promising teams. After about a quarter of an hour Gudmundsson shot hard at goal after a fine move by Mauro. A few minutes later Jong FC Utrecht was also dangerous: former PSV player Peijnenburg was able to shoot freely after a failed shot by Van der Meer. Both goalkeepers could save. Within half an hour Young PSV took the lead: Lammers got the ball via a nice cross from Rigo and shot in a controlled way: 1-0. Shortly afterwards Young PSV had a great opportunity for the second goal: Malen and Mauro broke through, but the first did not finish the ball well, so the chance was lost. That second goal did fall before halftime. Mauro dribbled through the Utrecht defense and laid the ball off to Gudmundsson, who then rounded goalkeeper Nijhuis and doubled the score. A beautiful goal.
Chances for the third goal
In the second half, Haar's team continued to attack merrily. In the 53rd minute, Gudmundsson went close with a shot, but goalkeeper Nijhuis could only just save. Lammers also came close to scoring his second of the evening with a header and a shot against the wall. His header went over and his shot was saved from the goal line by Zwartjens. A goal by Gudmundsson was disallowed for offside fifteen minutes before time. Rigo was also close to scoring 3-0, but his volley went just wide. Young PSV had plenty of chances in the second half, but failed to score. Hits by Lammers and Gudmundsson were good for three points.
