Young PSV played a convincing match against FC Volendam, winning 3-1 at PSV Campus De Herdgang. Goals by Ngonge and Vertessen kept the three points in Eindhoven.
Double penalty kick
After fifteen minutes of play the score was opened. A foul by Steven Theunissen earned the Volendammers a penalty kick, which was successfully shot in by Jelle Duin. Less than five minutes later the tide turned, as Young PSV also received a penalty kick. Cyril Ngonge did not fail from eleven meters and he brought the equal score on the board. There were no more goals in the first half, 1-1 was the score at halftime.
Efficient second half
The biggest danger early in the second half came from Yorbe Vertessen, but the striker saw his effort turned away by goalkeeper Nordin Bakker. From the ensuing corner Soulas almost headed in but that ball also bounced off the keeper. About fifteen minutes before time it was Ngonge who broke the spell. After a nice individual action he surprised Bakker in the short corner and made it 2-1. Almost ten minutes later it was another goal. Chris Gloster played Vertessen free and the striker stayed cool face to face with Bakker and shot the 3-1. Just before time Andrew Mendonca made his comeback after injury and he saw his team walk off the field with a win.
