Psv U21 knows what scoring is again after rain of chances in Maastricht

With zero goals in the last two games, it had been a while since the players of Young PSV flew into each other's arms. In the first half against MVV, despite numerous chances, they still failed to work the ball into the net. That quickly changed in the second game.

Rain of chances
In the purple away shirt, Young PSV combined well in the beginning of the match. After twenty minutes of play, the promise had already pulled the trigger more than seven times. The icing on the cake was the attacking leader of the evening: Simon Colyn. From a free kick, he curled the ball onto the crossbar. Yet after 25 minutes MVV's first chance was also an enormous one; Dennis Vos was able to get the ball off the line. After that the team continued to create goal attempts. But then there was MVV again. With a goal that smelled of offside, the home team sent Young PSV into the locker room with a hangover.

Finish
The message must have been clear during tea: shoot between the posts. Before halftime, Ruud van Nistelrooy's team had already shot some fifteen times. Mathijs Tielemans had at least taken that advice to heart, because in the 47th minute he brought Young PSV level. His shot from the edge of the box had a bounce in it that fooled the goalkeeper. Twenty minutes later, Johan Bakayoko left the same goalkeeper defenseless. From the right side he curled the ball beautifully into the cross. Van Nistelrooy knew that it was all about defending after that, and he made two substitutions to bring the backline up to strength. Nevertheless, a crazy final phase followed, in which Maxime Delanghe kept PSV on their feet three times. And so the points went to Eindhoven.

Delanghe, Markelo, Seelt, Vos, Leysen; Kjølø, Tielemans, (46/Antonisse) Saibari; (89/Comenencia) Bakayoko, (46/Nassoh) Colyn, (90/Matuta) Sealy.
