Psv U21 won 1-0 over Telstar in its last home game Friday night. A goal by Gudmundsson was enough for the victory. Because of the win and the result at SC Cambuur - FC Eindhoven, Young PSV ends in fourth place in the Jupiler League. The highest finishing position in the Jupiler League ever.
Many chances, no goals
Psv U21 started the duel with The White Lions with a strong lineup. It played that way in the opening stages as well, strongly. In the first quarter of an hour it already had several chances for the opening goal. Lammers hit De Jong, Gudmundsson curled just wide and Verreth's shot also went just over. The latter had a great chance to make it 1-0 after more than half an hour of play, but the ball did not go in either. PSV had enough chances in the first half, but did not score. Half-time score: 0-0.
Sixteenth for Gudmundsson
The first quarter of the second half bore little resemblance to the first quarter of the first half. Young PSV created less and got a lot fewer chances. Jansen's team was only dangerous for the first time after an hour of play. Zinchenko lashed out in the direction of De Jong's goal, but the goalkeeper could easily grab the ball. After 73 minutes of play Young PSV got away well. Attacker Zamouri hit the post with a well-placed shot. Only a few seconds later the other side scored. Gudmundsson was sent off after a nice cross from Zinchenko and worked the deserved 1-0 in after a nice individual action. It was already the Icelander's sixteenth goal of the season. Friday night the goal was enough for the three points. Young PSV beat Telstar 1-0 to finish in fourth place in the Jupiler League.
