Young PSV continues to struggle in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. Against the well-performing SC Cambuur, the bottom of the league lost 0-1.
Chances at both ends
Psv U21 opened strongly in the first half. Good combination play produced a chance but the cross was not sharp enough. Shortly after, a shot by Ledezma ended in the hands of Cambuur goalkeeper Stevens. In an exciting opening half, chances came back and forth from both teams. Van de Meulenhof kept Young PSV upright with a number of clever saves. Just before half time Cambuur seemed to score the opening goal but Chris Gloster worked the ball off the line. With no goals, the players went into the locker room.
Ten men at Cambuur
On behalf of Young PSV, the first danger in the second half came from Olivér Horvath, but Cambuur kept him from scoring. After an hour of playing time, the Leeuwarden team had to continue with ten men. A strong tackle on Claudio Gomes earned Robin Maulun a red card. Young PSV did not take advantage of Cambuur's man down, but it was Calvin Mac-Intosh who opened the scoring with a turnover, 0-1. Fifteen minutes before time Yorbe Vertessen entered the lines for Young PSV, making his debut in professional football. The final danger came from Claudio Gomes, whose shot went wide. A tying goal did not come and 0-1 was the final score at PSV Campus De Herdgang. PSV's next match is the away match against Excelsior next Friday.
