Psv U21 failed to grace its debut at PSV Campus De Herdgang with a win. On the grass of the brand new youth complex, Peter Uneken's team lost 1-0. Englishman Noni Madueke made his official debut on behalf of the pledges.
Closed
In the first half, Young PSV and MVV Maastricht are very evenly matched. Both teams kept their ranks nicely closed and therefore had difficulty creating chances. In the first thirty minutes a lot of attacks stranded around both sixteen-meter areas of the pitch. The first decent chance for Young PSV came on the half hour, but right back Teze did not have his sights set straight. Bonifazi does on the other side. He beat goalkeeper Van de Meulenhof with a close-range nick: 0-1.
Debut Madueke
Immediately after halftime, Ledezma shot past PSV. However, the American sees that his goal is disallowed for offside and that fellow attacker Sidibé also gets a great chance to score the equalizer barely a minute later. The Belgian, however, did not have his sights on the ball. Thus, Young PSV presses early in the second half without success. As the second half progresses, Young PSV manages to create fewer chances or opportunities. The efforts of debutant Madueke (only 17 years old) do not yield results either, leaving Uneken's team stuck at one point after three games.
