Psv U21 started the last block before the winter break with a defeat. In the first game in a busy period, they lost 4-1 to De Graafschap.

Dream start
Despite an offensive start by the home team, resulting in a ball on the crossbar, among other things, Young PSV had a dream start at De Vijverberg. Earlier in the match, Peter Uneken's side showed the technical qualities the team possesses when given the slightest amount of space. But where it did not lead to a goal-ready opportunity then, it did happen after fifteen minutes of play. Once again, smooth combination play found the depth, this time with Catic. The young attacker, much quicker than his opponent, squeezed past goalkeeper Jurjus and signed for 0-1. Psv U21 could not enjoy the goal for long. Less than five minutes later a cross from Van Mieghem fell into the goal behind Van de Meulenhof: 1-1. Ten minutes before halftime, De Graafschap pushed forward once more and the 2-1 also fell. After Van de Meulenhof's clever save earlier on, he was unable to answer a Doetinchem corner kick.

Stretcher
Another setback followed even before halftime. Manchester City loanee Gomes appeared at first glance to be pretty badly injured after a duel. The midfielder was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and replaced by Wallenburg at the start of the second half. He then saw De Graafschap quickly make it 3-1 through Hamdaoui. That broke the resistance of PSV. De Graafschap extended their lead to 4-1 through former PSV player Nijland. Next Monday another chance for revenge awaits. Psv U21 plays at home against NAC Breda. Helmond Sport will follow in a week.
