The first of all PSV teams, Young PSV resumes the season Sunday afternoon with an official match. And it is not just any game. In Amsterdam it plays the beloftentopper against Jong Ajax and with a win, Dennis Haar's team has a chance at the period title.
How about that?
Young PSV is in 6th place in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, eight points behind leaders FC Den Bosch, and it owes that largely to a good second period. The last eight games have given Young PSV sixteen points, two less than FC Den Bosch, which wins the second period title with a win over FC Dordrecht (19th ). Should the leader of the league make a slip, Young PSV can take the period title. To do so, it must win against Jong Ajax and ensure that it stays ahead of Roda JC and Top Oss on goal difference.
Question marks
A possible period title is not the only issue. Coach Haar does not yet know whether he will be able to call on players who played regularly for Young PSV before the winter break, but are currently in Qatar with PSV. That includes Michal Sadílek, Joël Piroe, Matthias Verreth, Jordan Teze, Zakaria Aboukhlal (all Young PSV selection), Armando Obispo, Cody Gakpo and Dante Rigo. Goalkeeper Yanick van Osch, who regularly defended the goal in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, will miss the game anyway. He will be sidelined for the next few months due to a major injury.
