At PSV Campus De Herdgang, Young PSV met the FC Utrecht promise team. An exciting match ended without a winner in a 1-1 draw. Mathijs Tielemans scored for the Eindhoveners.
High tempo
Young PSV started the match dangerously. Already after three minutes, the team had taken two corner kicks and a shot by Richy Ledezma went just wide of the goal. The American later managed to put Touré away, but lacked the speed to turn the chance into a goal attempt. Shurandy Sambo showed himself defensively. With some clever interventions, he kept the Cathedral players out of scoring position. Mathias Kjølø was also sharp. A Utrecht effort was worked off the line to keep the score 0-0 on the board. Both teams maintained a high tempo throughout the first half. Goalkeeper Maxime Delanghe was tested several times by the Utrecht promising team, but was not passed in the first half hour. The away team was the first to take advantage of the high tempo. From about twenty meters, Djevencio van der Kust was able to shoot the ball placed over Delanghe for the 0-1. A tying goal did not come in the first game.
Football battle
With two substitutions, Young PSV started the second half renewed. It was also the substitutes who immediately brought danger to the field. A breakaway by Mathijs Tielemans resulted in a cross, but Fode Fofana just could not get up to speed in time. Delanghe also proved his form once again. Despite a painful collision with a Jong FC Utrecht player a few minutes earlier, the Belgian managed to keep a crafty shot out of his goal. After just under an hour of play the equalizer came. Sambo managed to deliver a low cross to Piroe who pounced on the goalkeeper from close range, but Tielemans headed the rebound into the net. That was not yet the turning point. A hard shot from the away team flew towards the far corner, but hit the post. The high tempo was still evident in the second half. Young PSV came close to taking the lead after a quick counter. Fofana tried to surprise the Utrecht goalkeeper but his shot went just past the goal. With ten minutes to go, the substitutes got back on track. Tielemans was able to deliver a cross from close range to Yorbe Vertessen. The ball was well placed but just too hard for the Belgian striker. In the closing stages Young PSV fought hard for the lead but the hard work did not yield a goal.
