At PSV Campus De Herdgang, Young PSV played a draw against Helmond Sport. The Eindhoveners gave away the lead, but managed to turn the deficit into a draw in the closing stages. Shurandy Sambo and Tijn Daverveld scored the goals on behalf of Young PSV.
Chance-poor
Psv U21 experienced a quiet first half. Armando Obispo returned from injury and immediately showed itself with a number of strong interceptions and deep balls. In attacking terms, the biggest chance came from Johan Bakayoko. The striker was played in and managed to cleverly cross through the Helmonders' defensive line. Just before he could get to a real shooting chance he was stopped. It was Bakayoko again who managed to deliver a tight cross in the closing minutes of the first half, but it failed to find an end. With no real chances, both teams left for the dressing room.
Chances
Young PSV came out of the dressing room with a lot of venom. In the first few minutes there was a big chance for Mathias Kjølø. The midfielder had a free shot but was unable to stop Helmond Sport goalkeeper Van Gassel. After already scoring against FC Den Bosch last match round, Shurandy Sambo tried to repeat that trick. After a clever combination with Bakayoko, the right back was able to shoot but the angle was too difficult for a goal. The first goal eventually came from Sambo, who still managed to repeat his trick. Again the right back had to shoot from difficult angle but this time the ball was perfectly placed. Via the inside of the post into the goal, 1-0. However, the lead was on the scoreboard for only a few minutes before Helmond Sport fired the equalizer into the net. Young PSV fought hard to regain the lead with a number of good chances. However, it was Helmond Sport who took the lead. Maxime Delanghe had a good save on a Helmond shot, but the rebound was free to tap in. In the closing minutes it seemed to be over for Young PSV, but after a scrimmage in front of the goal Tijn Daverveld managed to work the ball into the goal. After a crazy final phase with an Eindhoven shot on the post the team had to settle for a point.
