Young PSV lost 2-0 to N.E.C. Nijmegen on Thursday evening. Haar's team was certainly not the inferior especially in the first half, but failed to score. The home team scored just before halftime and just before the end of the match. Shortly before time, Abels received an immediate red card after a heavy tackle.

Falling behind against the odds
In a freezing cold Gofferstadion, Young PSV had trouble with the home team's play in the opening stages. Especially former PSV player Groenenveld regularly came out dangerously via the left flank. Despite the dominance, the best chances were for Haar's team. After about twenty minutes Malen and Lundqvist had a huge chance to score the opening goal. A tailored cross from Piroe first hit the post. Lundqvist then had a free shot at the rebound, but goalkeeper Delle made a fine save. After this moment the game changed: Psv U21 took over the initiative and dictated the game in the remainder of the first half. Still, it went to rest with a deficit. A minute before halftime, NEC scored through a shot changed direction by Kadioglu.

Few chances
After halftime, Young PSV had three good opportunities within five minutes. Abels headed narrowly wide in the 50th minute. A minute later, Rigo and Malen tried from distance. Both saw Delle save. Where Young PSV was unlucky in the first half, it got away well after an hour of play. Striker Braken wormed his way past Teze and shot at the post. Both teams created few clear-cut chances in the second half and relied mainly on individual and distance shots. Just before time Abels received a direct red card after a heavy tackle on Verdonk and N.E.C. decided the game through Groenenveld. With ten men, Young PSV lost 2-0 to N.E.C. Nijmegen.
