In the pouring rain, Young PSV drew 1-1 against SC Cambuur on Monday night. Haar's team was the better side for almost the entire match, but managed to score only once. Before the match, Gakpo, Malen, Rigo, Paal, Mauro, Rosario and Gudmundsson were honored for their debuts in PSV 1.
Fifth goal of the season Gakpo
Young PSV started well in the game with the visitors from Leeuwarden. It often had the ball in the opponent's half of the pitch and after 15 minutes of play had a number of chances through Lammers and Gudmundsson. The latter appeared to open the scoring after 20 minutes, but his goal was disallowed for offside. The opposition had very little to say in Eindhoven in the first half hour and could mainly hold back. After almost half an hour of play, Haar's team rewarded itself: Gakpo was the endpoint of a fine attack and opened the score at De Herdgang. It was already his fifth goal of the season. Five minutes later SC Cambuur got a great chance out of nowhere and it was immediately put to good use: Kip was completely free and tapped in easily.
No goals despite dominance
In the second half, too, it was Young PSV that made the play. Yet the first chance was for the Frisians. Midfielder Crowley shot just wide of Room's goal. In the 52nd minute, Rosario almost scored in spectacular fashion: an overhead kick went just wide of the crossbar. Just like in the first half, Gudmundsson and Lammers also had chances to put Young PSV ahead again, but the ball did not go in. Young PSV did not get very big chances, but still the 2-1 was in the air. SC Cambuur held the last fifteen minutes mainly only against, and with success. Psv U21 did not score anymore, so the game ended 1-1.
