Young PSV failed to follow up on last week's win against FC Volendam. At the Goffert in Nijmegen, NEC was too strong with 1-0.

Van de Meulenhof outstanding
Young PSV was able to open the scoring within the first few minutes of the match. Yorbe Vertessen broke through well on the right and delivered the ball to Sidibe. The right-winger's shot had too little power to trouble NEC goalkeeper Mattijs Branderhorst. After this action, the home team took over the initiative and became dangerous in front of Mike van de Meulenhof's goal several times. A ball was cleared off the line and Van de Meulenhof had to intervene several times. In the last five minutes of the first half NEC pressed again, but Van de Meulenhof kept his goal clean.

NEC stronger
In the second half, the home team got off to a good start. NEC put pressure on Young PSV and created many chances. After more than an hour, Van de Meulenhof had to give way. Zian Flemming rounded off a good Nijmegen attack: 1-0. In the last ten minutes Young PSV could not force an equalizer and so the match ended in a 1-0 defeat. One bright spot for Young PSV in the closing stages of the match, as Koen Oostenbrink made his debut for the team tonight.
