Young PSV lost in Almere to Almere City by a wide margin: 7-0. Pascal Jansen's team received a direct red card from referee Kooij in both the first and second half. They also received a penalty kick in both halves. With nine men, the team from Eindhoven could mainly hold back and limit the damage, which worked quite well until the closing stages. In the last five minutes the team gave up three goals, resulting in a 7-0 score.

Early red card Rommens
For Young PSV the match in Almere could not have started worse: already after three minutes of play Rommens received a direct red card from referee Kooij. Ahannach was brought down by the Belgian and then shot his free kick straight into Bertrams' goal. After the early goal, the team from Eindhoven struggled and Almere City had three big chances to make it 2-0. Coach Pascal Jansen saw that his team was under pressure and decided to make a change: striker Cmiljanic was substituted for defender Loof. In the 16th minute, Young PSV suffered the next setback: Almere City was awarded a penalty kick. Oost took the penalty and gave the home team a 2-0 lead. Ten minutes later, the same Oost volleyed Almere City to a 3-0 lead. The defensive change by coach Jansen meant that his team had fewer chances. With ten men the team did not create any chances of their own, leaving them trailing 3-0 at the break.

Second red card and penalty kick
Also in the second half, Pascal Jansen's team received an early direct red card. De Wijs had to leave the field after three minutes and Almere City was awarded a penalty kick. Kip took the penalty, giving the Almere team a 4-0 lead. Jansen again intervened immediately and made a defensive change: Gudmundsson made way for Van Vlerken. With nine men, Young PSV could only hold back and limit the damage. This worked pretty well, until the final stages: substitute Van de Water scored twice within three minutes and Ahannach scored another goal in extra time, resulting in a 7-0 final score.

Because of the loss in Almere, Young PSV finished eleventh in the Jupiler League.
