Young PSV will take on Achilles '29 on Friday evening at 8 p.m. The venue for the meeting between numbers 11 and 10 of the Jupiler League rankings is sports complex De Herdgang. Ruud van Nistelrooy will coach the team tonight in place of Pascal Jansen.
Last year 2-0 for promising team
Van Nistelrooy is doing so as part of the trainer course the former striker is taking at the KNVB. The meeting between Young PSV and Achilles does not have a long history. Both teams entered the Jupiler League at the same time, making it the fifth time the game has been scheduled for Friday. Last year the meeting at De Herdgang was the opening game of the season. Back then, through goals by Zakaria Bakkali and Olivier Rommens, Young PSV won 2-0 from the former amateurs. A number of Young PSV players may play their second game this week in the upcoming game against Achilles, by the way, as Sam Lammers and Kenneth Paal, among others, were in action last Wednesday in Russia against the peers of CSKA Moscow (0-0). They are also in the squad against Achilles.
Van Vlerken with selection
A week ago the team won a point in the away match against FC Emmen. Steven Bergwijn was in the right place to tap in the 1-1 goal deep in the second half. Against Achilles '29 Bergwijn will definitely not be there. The selection does include Suently Alberto and Laros Duarte, who returns from injury. Most notable, however, is Bram van Vlerken, who is back in the team for the first time tonight after a long period of injury. The right back was seriously injured last season and hopes to get his first minutes back soon. Encourage him and the rest of the team Friday night for only €5 at De Herdgang. Tickets are available (without PSV Club Card) at the stadium ticket office of the sports complex.
