Young PSV took the shared lead in the Jupiler League on Monday night. The team of coach Pascal Jansen was 2-1 too strong for VVV-Venlo in Venlo. Jordy de Wijs was the match winner with a fabulous free kick in the final phase.

Sixth goal of the season for Lammers
Apart from a Ralf Seuntjes chance in the opening minute, Young PSV initially had little to fear from the Jupiler League leaders after three rounds of play. Although the home team logically tried to determine the game, coach Jansen's pledges did not really get into trouble until the 33rd minute. It was Clint Leemans, who joined VVV-Venlo this season, who changed all that. He put his new team up 1-0 with a shot from distance. Young PSV could hardly do anything against that in an offensive sense. Yet at half time the score was tied. Who else than Sam Lammers brought the pledges alongside with a header from a free kick. Three minutes before the halftime signal he signed for the 1-1 draw.

World goal De Wijs
That that score was still on the board in the first minutes of the second half had everything to do with Seuntjes. The top scorer of last year's Jupiler League was awarded a penalty kick after an alleged Pablo Rosario foul, but shot wide and hard. A few minutes later, Young PSV could not complain when Leemans received his second yellow card and thus red. Despite the numerical minority, VVV-Venlo should have taken the lead twenty minutes before time. Jonathan Opoku had the 2-1 in his sights, but only hit the post about five meters from goal. Three minutes later Gudmundsson did the same. His miss had no consequences for PSV, as Jordy de Wijs made it 2-1 with a free kick that hit the underside of the crossbar.
