Psv U21 is no longer unbeaten in the second half of the season. At Het Kasteel, Pascal Jansen's team lost 1-0 to leaders Sparta Rotterdam after a 0-0 halftime score.
Difficult first half
At Het Kasteel it soon became clear that Young PSV were in for a tough game: after just two minutes Sparta had two life-size chances at the first goal. Koopmans made two good saves to prevent the home side from taking the lead. Young PSV had a hard time in the first half against a well playing Sparta and were lucky not to go behind. The team from Rotterdam got chance after chance, but failed to finish it off. Young PSV did not really become dangerous in the first half. Apart from a rehearsed free kick, it did not come close to Sparta's penalty area. Both teams went into the break with the score 0-0.
Sparta a size too big
Young PSV came out of the dressing room well and started the second half better than the first. After some nice combinations a corner was almost nodded in by Koch: goalkeeper Kortsmit could only just tap the ball over. The header was also the only danger from Young PSV in the opening phase of the second half. Sparta quickly took over the initiative and, just like in the first half, was very dangerous on a number of occasions. After an hour of play Sanusi shot hard at Koopmans' goal, which again kept Young PSV in the match. In the 71st minute, Sparta got what it deserved: a goal. Paco van Moorsel nodded the ball in from a corner to give the home side the lead. After the goal Sparta went in search of a second goal. That goal did not come, however, and Sparta won 1-0.
