NEC proved a size too big for Young PSV at home. Peter Uneken's team failed to score and lost 2-0 to the Nijmegen side.

Few chances
Young PSV stepped on the gas early and looked to attack. After cleverly taking the ball away, Kristófer Kristinsson was able to deliver a cross, which just failed to reach Cheick Touré. NEC's counter attack followed right away. A header looked to be very dangerous but rebounded off the crossbar. From a free kick, the Nijmegen players were once again given a shot on goal but Cheick Touré jumped up well from the wall to stop the danger. Tijn Daverveld tried to look for danger via the long ball. Nigel Thomas was almost reached but was unable to worm his way through the Nijmegen defensive line. The home team made another attempt via a corner kick but Mathias Kjølø was sharp and could catch the cross. The Norwegian was also in the right place to clear a free kick shortly afterwards. With no major chances, Young PSV returned to the locker room for halftime.

Saving Müller not enough for points
Immediately after the kickoff of the second game, NEC tried to make things hot for Young PSV. A strong defensive intervention by Fredrik Oppegård neutralized the threat. After a run by Kristinsson, Young PSV was allowed to take a corner kick. The ball landed on the head of Luis Felipe, who headed hard, but his effort went just wide. At the other end, Vincent Müller was put to the test. A hard shot from the side looked to be the opening goal but the German goalkeeper cleverly kept the net clear. Shortly after, Müller had another good save on a Nijmegen effort from close range. The rebound came at the feet of Javier Vet, who shot the 1-0 for NEC. Psv U21 went straight for revenge with a good cross, but Kristinsson was a toe short of slotting the ball in. At the other end of the pitch it was back on target. From close range NEC was able to work in and Müller was defenseless, 2-0. In the final chord came a nice shot on goal by Jeremy Antonisse. The striker curled the ball into the far corner but NEC goalkeeper Branderhorst was able to catch the effort. This was the last chance of the match for Young PSV.
