Psv U21 had little trouble Friday night with a faltering Helmond Sport. The visitors, who lost seven of their last eight games before the meeting at De Herdgang, were dealt a 3-0 defeat by Young PSV.
Gudmundsson makes 13th
With the 5-0 win over FC Eindhoven still fresh in the memory, Young PSV shot out of the starting blocks against regional rival Helmond Sport, where confidence was clearly fragile after the many blows in recent months. On the main pitch on the youth side, Gudmundsson - who scored a hat trick on Monday - again underlined his form by scoring the opening goal after 13 minutes. Coincidentally also his 13th goal of the season. Via Lammers and Piroe (his first in professional football), PSV quickly took a 3-0 lead.
Control
With a double substitution after half an hour, Helmond Sport coach Hendriksen shook his team somewhat awake, but his team was able to limit the damage. Something that worked pretty well, also because Young PSV did not really push to increase the score after the break. Apart from a shot by Lammers early in the second half and an open chance for Gudmundsson, Jansen's team mainly tried to keep control of the game. The win was never in danger and PSV ended the derby week with six points from two games.
