Psv U21 played a scoreless draw in Maastricht on Friday evening. Haar's team had great chances through Mauro Junior and Laursen, but failed to score.
Great chance Mauro Junior
In the south of Limburg, MVV and Young PSV were evenly matched in the first half. The first big chance was for Ogunjimi, MVV's striker, who took a hard shot towards Van Osch's goal after about twenty minutes of play. The Young PSV goalkeeper made a fine save. A few minutes later, Mauro Junior had a chance not to be missed after a fine individual action by starting keeper Malen. The Brazilian playmaker could have tapped the ball in front of an open goal, but shot hard at the crossbar. In the remainder of the first half, the home side had a number of small chances, but Van Osch kept his goal clean. Both teams went into the locker room with the same score on the board.
Goalless draw
In the second half, Haar's team took over the initiative. The ball pace was higher and the passing was cleaner than in the first game. After an hour of play, Laursen had a great chance to make it 0-1. The outside player had a free shot at Verrips, but his shot was blocked by Janssens, an important interception. Twenty minutes before time, Young PSV had another great chance to take the lead: Kardes was free to head in from a corner, but headed wide. Just before time, Mauro Junior was brought to the ground by goalkeeper Verrips, but referee Bax did not see anything wrong. In the closing minutes both teams went in search of the winning goal. It never came, so MVV - Young PSV ended in a scoreless draw.
