The opening phase of Young PSV - TOP Oss had few highlights. Both sides were sloppy in ball possession and created few to no chances. Haar's team had the ball more often, but got no further than a few harmless long-distance shots. The visitors' first chance was a direct hit: after 27 minutes of play TOP Oss took the lead through Oratmangoen. A few minutes later Young PSV equalized, and how. Lonwijk curled the ball into the crossbar from a long distance. A beauty. Just three minutes later the ball was in the net again. Young PSV was awarded a penalty kick, which Mauro then controlled.

After just under an hour of play, Mauro was close to scoring his second of the evening. The Brazilian curled a free kick perfectly into the crossbar, but the goalkeeper saved. After exactly one hour the third Young PSV goal was in the net: Aboukhlal rounded off a nice cross from Mauro. In the second half, Young PSV had no trouble at all with the team from Oss and won quite easily with 3-1.
