Two goals from standard situations
In Spakenburg, with an almost fit squad, Young PSV went on the hunt for their first away win since Aug. 22, 2016, when they won 2-1 against VVV Venlo. Young PSV had a tough time in the early stages against the FC Utrecht pledges, who soon almost took the lead through a shot by striker Venema. Van Osch cleverly saved Venema's effort by tapping the ball over via the crossbar. The Utrecht players were the better team in the early stages, but it was Young PSV that scored. Rommens curled the ball into Heus' goal after twenty minutes of play via a free kick: 1-0. The goal gave Jansen's talents confidence. Young PSV took over the initiative and was close to a second goal several times. Just before half-time the second deserved goal fell, again from a standard situation. Sam Lammers headed Young PSV 2-0 via a free kick.

Few highlights
The initial phase, as in the first half, was for the home side. Young PSV was under pressure for the first fifteen minutes, although they did not give away any major chances. Young FC Utrecht had more ball possession, but could not get through because of the good organization of Young PSV. Jansen's team did not create much themselves either, which made the second half less spectacular for the neutral viewer than the first. Just before the end, Verreth had a great chance to make it 3-0. His shot was turned away by goalkeeper Heus. Young PSV beat Jong FC Utrecht 2-0, just like in the home game.
