On a sunny Easter Monday, Young PSV won handsomely against Sparta Rotterdam. Aboukhlal and Mauro scored for Haar's team.
Psv U21 the better
Some 934 spectators had come to De Herdgang on Easter Monday for the duel between the number two and five sides. They saw Young PSV start well against the Rotterdammers. Already after ten minutes Aboukhlal had a great chance for the opening goal. The outside player got the ball via a fine Young PSV attack, but goalkeeper Coremans cleverly caught his shot. Haar's team was the better in the first half, but did not score. Lonwijk and Ramselaar came close via long-distance shots. Sparta was dangerous mainly through counters and switch moments. The visitors' most dangerous man was Veldwijk. Three times the striker shot at goal, three times Roulaux saved well.
Handsome win
Sparta also stood compact in the second half. PSV did not create many chances in the opening stages of the second half. Both sides tried mainly from distance. In the 66th minute a Sparta defender slipped, allowing Piroe to run through towards goal. The striker saw Aboukhlal standing completely free and laid off. Aboukhlal easily tapped in. After the goal Sparta had to take more risks to stay in the race for the national championship. The psv U21 attackers took advantage of this. Ten minutes before time Aboukhlal was pushed in his back in the sixteen. Young PSV was awarded a penalty which was then shot in by Mauro.
