Psv U21 has won again in the Jupiler League. After four matches without a win, FC Volendam was beaten 2-1 on Friday night. Goalkeeper Koopmans made his comeback after a long period of injury.
Return of Koopmans, ninth goal for Malen
Koopmans, who returned to action for the first time since April 28, 2017, was soon important for Young PSV: FC Volendam striker Stroo was alone on goal after five minutes, but then shot straight at the goalkeeper, who saved handsomely. Three minutes later it was the other way around. Malen rounded off a fine ball from Ritzmaier in a controlled manner to score his ninth goal of the season. The same Malen had a great opportunity to double the score fifteen minutes later. The outside player had a free shot after a nice attack via Rigo, Carolina and others, but he slid the ball over. The first half had few other highlights.
Red card Evers
The beginning of the second half resembled the first half in many ways: the game was up and down, but both teams created little. After just under an hour of play, that changed when Young PSV was awarded a free kick. Ritzmaier shot the ball toward the far post, where Teze was wide open. The central defender headed the ball to Verreth, who tapped in an empty goal: 2-0. In the 67th minute the visitors had to continue with 10 men: defender Evers received his second yellow card and had to leave. FC Volendam managed to score just before the end with one man less: Tol headed in and made it even more exciting. Young PSV won the match and started well in the fourth period of the Jupiler League.
