Jans says final goodbye to PEC at Philips Stadium

With a win over sc Heerenveen last week, PEC Zwolle has already assured itself of a longer stay in the Eredivisie. For the Zwolle players, the game is therefore mainly about the departure of coach Ron Jans.

Fritz Korbach
Last week Jans already said goodbye to the Zwolle crowd at the MAC³PARK stadium. But his official last game is today against PSV. Moreover, it is his 136th game in charge at PEC. With that, Jans equals Fritz Korbach as coach with the most premier league matches at PEC Zwolle.

Prizes
Under Jans, PEC won both the KNVB Cup and the Johan Cruijff Schaal in 2014, the only major prizes for the club ever. Another title Jans will have to give away now that he is quitting. Together with Phillip Cocu, he is currently still the longest-serving coach in the Eredivisie.

Top scorer Jans
Jans must slowly be careful not to lose yet another honorary title. Club top scorer Queensy Menig scored fourteen goals this season and needs one more to enter the top 10 of Zwolle's all-time goal scorers in the Eredivisie. Another such productive season for PEC and he is approaching his current coach, who scored thirty times for PEC as a player and is third in that ranking. Jans does not have to worry very much about that yet, as Menig is rented from Ajax.

Former PSV player is premier league outfielder
Davy Pröpper could play his 200th premier league game today, making him the player with the most premier league games in PSV's selection. There could be one player on the field with more duels in Holland's premier league: former PSV player Dirk Marcellis. He has appeared in 230 premier league matches so far.

Standing ovation at Anfield
Marcellis played 68 of those games for PSV, in the period from 2007 to 2010. Marcellis comes from PSV's youth academy and made his debut for the club in the 2007 Champions League quarterfinal against Liverpool at Anfield Road. After 63 minutes he left the field with red and a standing ovation from the Liverpool fans.

Nijland and Mokthar
In addition to Marcellis, Stef Nijland and Youness Mokhtar also have a past with PSV. Nijland played eighteen premier league matches for PSV between 2008 and 2011. Mokhtar spent over ten years in PSV's youth academy, but never made his debut.
