PSV Women will take on AZ this Sunday. The leader of the Azerion Women's Eredivisie can set a special record in this match, by keeping the zero for the seventh time in a row. However, goalkeeper Nicky Evrard is focusing mainly on getting the three points.
How is the start of the new season for you?
"Very good, I've been well received here, so that's always nice. I think it's also something Eindhoven-like to always make everyone feel welcome. What I'm saying, they've taken good care of me."
How are you guys in the game as a team?
"We started the season well as a team, which obviously helps a lot for the atmosphere. But I think that's almost always good, because it's just a nice group of girls."
Sunday AZ at home, what do you expect from them?
"They are a very strong team. The sixth place they are currently in is maybe a distorted picture, because they haven't lost that many points yet this season. They just started the league well. It's up to us to win from them and continue our good streak."
And then FC Utrecht and Ajax away. It's going to be tough weeks. Are you looking forward to it?
"I think above all we shouldn't look too far ahead. First up is AZ, that match is tough enough. The season is still very long and a lot can still happen. That's why we look at it match by match."
Should you keep the zero, it will be the first time ever that a team, and therefore a goalkeeper, has kept the zero for seven games in a row. Does that make you proud?
"Yes, a little bit. But it's not a 'one woman job.' The whole team contributes to that, from the strikers to the defenders, so it's a nice compliment to all of us. The record is not so much alive in the group, but more the three points against AZ. It helps then of course if you keep the zero, because then it is a lot easier to win."
