Melanie Bross played her 100th game for PSV Women against FC Twente, a milestone that will be celebrated with a tribute prior to the game against PEC Zwolle. Although the honor gives her extra motivation, for Melanie the focus remains primarily on the match itself.
How do you look forward to the game against PEC Zwolle?
"PEC Zwolle is a team that, like us, always wants to build up. In the preparation we already practiced against them, then it became 3-0 for us. Of course you hope we can repeat that, but that will be difficult, because they have quality. They start building up early, so it is up to us not to give them too much space in that, otherwise they will get into their own game."
What did you think of last Sunday's game against sc Heerenveen?
"We started the match very well, actually until the 1-0. After that it became a bit less, but in the end we still achieved an important victory. Even better is that, without playing great football, you are two points ahead of FC Twente."
Do you expect to definitely connect with them this season?
"If you look at the game against FC Twente, of course you hope so. We played a very good first half and I think we were the better team. In the second half they changed their approach and we lost some grip on the game, but it was clear that we were not inferior to them. Therefore, I expect that we can at least close the gap from last year."
Are you looking extra forward to Saturday because of your tribute?
"I'm definitely looking forward to it. The game against FC Twente was my 100th, which is kind of special. To my feeling, it has all gone very fast and it doesn't feel like 100 games by a long shot, so I think that's a good sign. On to more, but the match against PEC Zwolle is the most important."
