Emma Frijns is developing nicely this season. Last week she played half an hour against Ajax in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Early this season she played the World Cup O20 in Colombia, while she now regularly makes minutes with the Dutch Junior Lionesses. Against Fortuna Sittard she hopes to continue that good line.
Tomorrow Fortuna Sittard is on the schedule. Are you looking forward to it?
"Yes, very much looking forward to it. Last week I made a nice number of minutes, I want to repeat that now. Besides, it's also the last home game of the year, we're going to make a great one."
What do you expect from them?
"I think they want to show they can play good football, even against the league leaders. So we have to be careful, we have been warned."
First in the league, the best goal difference. That should give confidence right?
"Absolutely. As a team we are doing well. The defense is excellent, the attackers are scoring and we almost always play well. That gives super a lot of confidence."
You just mentioned it briefly, but you filled in well against Ajax, what was that like?
"It was a special moment, in the ArenA, against Ajax. I played for half an hour, so that was really nice. We played good football and also won deservedly."
You are one of the players from the PSV Academy, so is it extra special for you to play here?
"I think so. To start at Young PSV Women and then gradually play more and more is very nice. The fact that we are doing so well now is extra special."
You obviously played a super nice World Cup O20 at the beginning of the season, now a regular within Jong OranjeLeeuwinnen. What is that like for you?
"The World Cup was really very special. How football is experienced there was really bizarre. We played against Colombia, in a stadium full of Colombians, and also won. Now I have indeed been called up a few times for Jong, so things are getting better and better."
So soon we are going to see you in the big Oranje?
"That's still a little too soon, but we'll see. I do hope so, haha."
